Ruth A. Rees Stuart Kimmel

Ruth A. Rees Stuart Kimmel, 93, of Elkville, died at 7:44 a.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2000 at the Fair View Nursing Center in Du Quoin.
Mrs. Kimmel was born October 19, 1906 in Elkville, the daughter of Estes Goe and Pearle Mae (Brown) Rees. She married Paul E. Stuart in 1924 in Salem, and he preceded her in death in 1964. She then married Jacob B. Kimmel on June 2, 1966 in Elkville, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 1989.
Ruth was a homemaker and had worked as a seamstress at Houses Ideal Cleaners. She was a member of the Dowell Baptist Church. She was Past Worthy Matron of the De Soto Eastern Star and Past Worthy High Priestess of the White Shrine of Carbondale.
Survivors include a daughter, Billie Mae Davis and husband Leon of Elkville; a brother, Byrl Rees and wife Kathy of Du Quoin; three grandchildren, Stuart Davis and wife Patsy of Elkville, Sharra Mings and husband Bill of Du Quoin and Bryant Davis and wife Lorie of Dowell; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, a brother, Earl Rees and a sister, Thelmer Rees. 
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 28, 2000 at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Frank White officiating. Friends were able to call from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment was in Osage Cemetery in Royalton.
Memorials may be made to the Dowell Baptist Church, the Elkville Christian Church or to the Fair View Nursing Center.
